Square foot garden

A few months ago I wrote a very lengthy, detailed post about my new square foot garden.  And then it all got deleted before I published it.  Grrr.  I really don't like to blog, so you can bet I really don't like to blog the same thing twice!  So, the only details I really wanted to record (even if I have to do it twice) is how my garden shrank in size, but not production.

Our original garden was a whopping 67x39 feet, or 2,613 square feet.  The main level of our house is 1,700 square feet, just to put things in perspective.  Our new square foot garden 12 4x4 foot boxes, plus two 4x10 foot boxes for berries.  That adds up to 272 square feet.  That is 90% smaller!  That's 90% less garden that I have to weed, water, fertilize, etc.  That makes me 100% happier with my garden.  And yes, we really did get as much produce as we did with our old gardens.  Pretty cool, eh?

These posts are kind of in backward order, but I am okay with substandard work when it comes to things like that.

  1. Your garden makes my mouth water. I've never had anything more delicious than your homegrown greens.
And I've had deleted blog posts happen way more than I would like. So blasted frustrating!
