Second Grade? Really? Yikes! So, here's how she felt about it:
Night before--A little bit nervous, mostly excited. In the morning--not ready to be awakened early.
Five minutes later--upstairs dressed, ready for french toast.
As she got her hair curled--smiling, very excited.
In the car on the way to school--chatty as can be, no nervousness anywhere in sight.
In the classroom--sitting in her seat with a big smile on her face.
How can this be my timid little Madeline? I cried my first day of second grade. She is as brave as can be! Maybe the shiny Barbie hair accented by the black shirt gives one confidence. I should have tried that in second grade.
Sweet little Camilly in kindergarten already! Here's her feelings on the day:
Night before--Very nervous and a little weepy.
In the morning---Still a bit unsure about things, but getting excited.
By 10 o' clock--"How much longer till it's time to go?!" Beginning to bounce off the walls in anticipation.
In the classroom--Backpack stashed in her cubby, sitting in seat, best friend Kessa by her side, see ya' later, Mom! No tears in sight.

I am lucky my ladies have been braver than I was. I am not sure I could handle leaving them if they were crying when I left!
Judging by the smiles as they got off the bus, it was a great day! They both raced home before I could say much more than "Hi girls!"
Eating cookies for an after school snack (a rarity at our house) Madeline's comment: "This is a great after school snack. Lots of people have this for a snack after school. Even in books and stuff." Chalk one up for Mom.
What fun pics! I esp. like the one with them walking off the bus. My girls came home very excited to. Here's hoping to a great year!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Looks like it was a successful first day. I didn't expect to cry, but as I was driving home after dropping off Nathan (no buses for us) I was surprised to find tears on my face!
ReplyDeleteglad to see things went so well! Love the picture of them running off the bus with such big smiles!
ReplyDeleteI remember your lunch falling out of your lunchbox on the first day of school. Or maybe that was me........it's all a bit of a blur now!
