So Kevin and I have just started another year of piano. It is tough to practice with five little kids around. My policy has always been "If I'm practicing the piano, I can't help you unless your head is bleeding. As I was getting ready to go practice this morning, I went in to remind the girls of our "don't bother Mommy unless your head is bleeding" rule. Just as I was about to start, Natalia fell off her chair.
She's done that a million times. I picked her up and held her for a minute when I noticed a little blood on her neck. I looked for the source and noticed a large stream of blood coming from the back of her head. I got that wiped up, the bleeding stopped, and took a look at the cause of the gushing. She had a cut in her head above her neck.
First thought: Can't practice the piano now. Stitches? Second thought: Call Mom and ask what it looked like when we needed stiches. Third thought: Breathe deeply. You can handle this, Lindy. Fourth thought: I can see a little too far into her head. That definitely needs stitches. Call the doctor's office.
Sure enough, three lovely stitches. She was very brave and held very still, though she did cry and let us know she was not enjoying the experience. Her sisters were all very excited to see the results when we got home. What an adventure!
By the way, I put her down for a nap later and did get the piano practicing done, thank you very much.

Been there...Head wounds are no fun. Really, is it necessary for that much blood to come out of such a small wound? Also, very proud of you for practicing. Mayna would be too, if you were lucky enough to be her student.
