SPRING BREAK!!!

We headed off for our first spring break trip with the van packed to the gills! We were headed for swimming and camping at Thousand Springs and Miracle Hot Springs. We had a great time swimming with our friends the Turpins.
Just a side note, each time we go swimming I wish we had boys so Kevin could help dress/change the wet kids. Have you ever tried to get 5 wet little girls back into dry clothes?
It's a project!

After swimming we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Taya was pretty happy to just carry around her Capri Sun (which Natalia really wanted) and the bag of chips (which Natalia also wanted).

Roasty-toasty hot dogs! This girl is an expert.

Eliza prefers to let someone else do the dirty work. She doesn't have enough patience to get the hot dog heated clear through!

Just in case you are wondering, I did have to wash all these pink coats after this trip. They were smeared with a good deal of marshmallow, chocolate, dirt, etc.

I got the s'more, Anna just got the graham cracker, but since she doesn't know the difference, she still wanted some-more of her plain old cracker.

Obvious happiness going on here.

My girls are totally thrilled by balloons. They are good enough to fight over. So, I brought a package of balloons and they were entertained the entire two day trip. With Madeline's hot air and Kailey's balloon-tying skills, they were set!

Biiiiiggg water, eh?

My girls have recently discovered the joys of Wheel of Fortune. If you look back at picture number one, you'll notice the game rode the whole trip on Madeline's lap. They don't know any of the "people" or any of the "phrases" or most of the "occupations" in the categories, but there's something addicting about spinning that wheel and guessing random letters!

This shows you how high tech we are when it comes to camping. Our girls sleep on blown up pool mats. They think it's cool. I get the air mattress all to myself. (Kevin doesn't really like it, but I would share if he wanted to). The problem this time was that the batteries had corroded so it wouldn't inflate. Dang!! My only back up was a folded up blanket. Not very comfy. I decided I'd just pretend I was Katniss Everdeen sleeping in some remote corner of the arena hoping no one would find and kill me.
I don't like being Katniss. I had rather sore muscles the next morning. The upside is that the floors of these domes are heated by the spring water, so even though it was awfully hard it was kind of like a really hard heating pad.

Even ol' Anna Banana had a great time and slept well in her trusty pack-and-play.

Don't you think a pack-and-play full of balloons sounds like fun? I did, too, but Anna totally disagreed. Sorry Anna.

The girls were terribly disappointed that they each only got to choose one balloon to bring home--the rest had to be popped. It was a subject causing much heartache and contention, but despite it all, it was a great trip!

  2. I'm so glad we got to come (even if we did miss out on the sleeping adventure!). And i totally agree with your assessment of all girls in the dressing room. You have 2 more than me and I still feel the stress!
