I bought a briefcase/bag thing at a yard sale this summer. When emptying out the pockets, Kevin found some CSI Eagle dollars redeemable at their bookstore. Since they expired in 2007, I ruled out spending them there, but they worked perfectly for the "fun bucks" I am doing with my girls. They earn fun bucks by reading books, practicing flashcards (math, music notes, etc.), handwriting practice, etc. Then they get to turn them in for fun activities. I tried to make active, (and easy) things a bit cheaper than those that involve treats, or lots of work for me. When I asked them about fun activities they wanted to do, I didn't even rule out things like "buy a real pony" or "go to Disneyland." I did make them basically unattainable, but hey, they are still on there! Hopefully it will be a success and I will have intellectual children at the end of the summer. If not, at least we'll have fun!

  1. Only a million fun bucks for a real pony? I don't see anything stopping them. That sounds totally attainable! Cute idea!!

  2. you should contract with the Monsons for horse rides - then pay the Monsons in Fun Bucks...

  3. Did you mean to make the font so giant? It makes a nice change, I'm not complaining...
My fun buck program is not so academic as yours. I make these kids work! Chores, etc. But also some summer goals for reading and such, too.
