A Handful of Years Behind Her!

Here's a fun "Good-Birthday-Morning" face for you! Eliza had two requests for her birthday presents: a flashlight and two packs of gum. Lucky for her those things both fit nicely in the budget and her wish was granted.

I felt a little guilty spending just $3 on a flashlight and $2 on three packs of gum, so I threw in a bike basket as well (which she also wanted, but hadn't thought to request for her b-day!). FYI, this very basket (well, one just like it) was featured on the cover of the Ensign in August.

Normally I wait until my children are in bed before I attempt to decorate their cakes. All the "help" they give tends to not make it the masterpiece I want it to become. Can't remember why, but I was working on this one while everyone was awake. Eliza saw and reeeeaaallly wanted to help, so I decided to just turn it over to her completely! Probably looked different from the version I would have created, but hey, it's her birthday, right!?

Lots of air needed to blow five big candles!

Eliza learned to ride her bike with no training wheels a few days BEFORE she turned five, which means she was riding with no training wheels when she was still FOUR! She likes to point that out! She is a great rider, too! She rides to preschool all the time and loooooooves it!

Sweet, sweet Grandpa! He came to sacrament with us on Eliza's birthday and then came over for dinner later. We are so lucky to have him!

The cute Grandma Yearsley dress! How about that weaved ribbon on the waistline! Cute, eh? It's my favorite feature.
She got a really fun headband making kit from Grandma Kathy, but it was a few days later and I was apparently out of the picture-taking mode. Woops.

Eliza is:

The best at sharing. Always willing to share toys, treats, paper, books, attention, etc. with her sisters. It resolves lots of tears!

Eliza always mixes up the words potato and tomato. It's very cute.

Eliza loves to make believe. Usually I end up as 'grandma' in her games.

Eliza is one of my best eaters. You'd never know it by her stick thin figure, but she will try and usually like everything I make!

  2. What a darling five year old. I'll weave a waistband on one of your church dresses if you'd like.
Eliza looks a lot like you in that picture where she's riding the bike.
    You're both beeeeautiful!
