Madeline likes to decorate a cake for the fair every year. The past several years she has used her "Crazy Cookin'" kit to put them together. This years ended up being a school house--if you look closely you can see the black path leading up to the school's front door. Very clever! (She had several other "not pictured" entries as well).
Camilla made a darling vegetable duck as well as a patriotic flower arrangement. She also has some other not pictured entries.
Among other things, Eliza drew this darling school bus to put into the fair. We gave those judges some tough decisions with our wonderful entries!!!
(Natalia is technically not old enough to enter anything yet, and happened to be sick with a fever on entry day, so she didn't much care).
I entered these five beauties (plus their "not pictured" sister) and won "best of show!"
This night all I ate was maple bars and the girls' tater tots, but the next time I had a delicious chicken bacon ranch pita--I highly recommend it if you visit the fair next year.
Nothing like a speeding rabbit on the carousel.
Madeline and Camilla rode this at least 20 times. It got busier later, but for a few rides, they had the thing to themselves!
Natalia and Eliza were thrilled to both be tall enough to ride the Yo-Yo (the one with the swings that fly out). This ride was as thrilling as going around in a circle over and over can be. Natalia's face shows that plain as day!
Is it just me or does a carousel always sort of remind you of a horror movie?
As close as we'll ever get to riding a real zebra. . .
Anna now knows how to unbuckle seat belts like these. I was always a bit nervous that she would do it while the ride was in motion. She tried a time or two, but didn't succeed.
The sun was shining through and lighting up the designs on Mari's carseat cover in a way that held her attention for a good 20 minutes!
Madeline and Camilla rode "Power Surge" a few times. It made me a little nervous to see my two little girls riding and dangling above the air with all the other teenagers on the ride. They were mighty brave! They are the two sets of bare feet off to the right.
Did you take all those kids by yourself, Lind?? Good on ya. And nice work on the entries, girls. Impressive, as always.
ReplyDeleteI miss those rickety, put-up-in-an-hour rides from the Cassia County fair. Always looked forward to summer to get those thrills.
Love the new picture at the top of your blog, BTW. Cute!!
What fun at the fair! It ALMOST makes me wish I was there...but only almost Lol
