This picture has little to do with the post, but since I am posting, and everyone else is featured in the post, shouldn't Mari be in there, too? Look how she is growing!! Head up off the ground, playing happily on her tummy. There is no better baby in the world.
So, on to the flu shots. A few days ago Kevin called from work asking if he should bring home flu shots for everyone. Hmm. A shot from Daddy. How is that going to go over? One of Madeline's first shot-experiences at the doctor's office (when she was old enough to protest) consisted of her jumping off her chair, hiding under it, and refusing to come out to get a shot. I was horribly embarrassed and dragged her out anyway, and she got the shot. Since then, we always discussed on the way to the office "It's okay to be scared, but you be brave! Sit and take it like a man." And they do. They are very good about it. But, coming from Daddy? I wasn't sure about that. However, since they are free, and we don't even have to go to the doctor's office to get them (and pay a $20 copay while we're there) we went for it.
Natalia volunteered to go first! (Eliza and Camilla ran out of the room and locked themselves in Mari's room). She was teary, but good! (You may notice that she's already sporting a bandaid--this picture was taken after the fact).
Madeline went next--another brave soul! This is a real-time action shot here! Go Madeline.
My heart was thumping mighty hard, but I'm sure if Madeline would have said "Mom, smile" as she took the picture I would have. (Just kidding. I totally trust my husband, even with a needle, and the only reason my heart was thumping was because it always does that when he gets close to me. But it's not fear.)
Anna was too young for a shot (Kevin can only give them to 36 months +), but she wanted to be part of the action. She got a poke with a plastic syringe, and a bandaid. And a sucker.
This one was NOT happy, but she lived through it with a sucker in her mouth!
Madeline wanted you to have a nice close up of what the needle in the arm looks like. I am covering Eliza's face so she WON'T have a close up of what the needle in the arm looks like.
She was not happy about it, either, and had to be dragged out from under the crib, but she stuck it out.
In case you are curious, Kevin did have a flu shot also, but his was done at work (what? he doesn't trust ME to give it?) and no one took his picture.
Bring on the flu. We're ready for it!
This post made me laugh! Eliza dragged from under the crib? Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though, who wants their dad bringing home a pocketful of syringes and needles? Yikes-o-rama!!
I love the picture of you and the description under it. So funny, so sweet.
Greg gave our boys flu shots, too. They were tough. We get free shots from work, too.
