We didn't do fireworks on the 4th--we'd gone to the Rupert fireworks earlier in the week, and didn't want a super late night before church (sacrament is barely doable as it is!) so since Kevin had promised the girls a backyard camp out Friday night anyway, we combined that with fireworks.
The girls were thrilled to do their sparklers. Eliza was a little nervous, but at least consented to hold some. How many kids can resist a fiery stick?
After the sparklers, we lit off some real fireworks. We were rather surprised when the first one Kevin lit went screaming into the sky--Kevin had purchased these from a stand at a store, not from a reservation. The next one we lit flew west clear across our grass to the lilac trees at the edge of the property, then south under the deck, then east under the truck.
Not knowing where it was going next, I quickly told the girls to get up and move. They were scared to death! Camilla is easily frightened, so we weren't too surprised about her, but even Madeline was petrified. I was a bit nervous about it burning something down, too!
We promised the girls he'd look through them carefully and find one that wasn't scary, but they were absolutely beside themselves crying and begging us not to do any more. They went inside and Kevin lit another one which made them break down crying again.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha - that is soooooo funny!
