A Perfect Picnic

A perfect picnic includes a walk with this handsome man. At least, for me, a picnic has never been perfect without him! Natalia would agree--if you're cute enough, he'll even carry you when you get tired of hiking!

The creek (Rock Creek) was perfect for these little toes to wade in--what kid could resist?

AFTER we waded in the water, we saw many, many water snakes slithering stealthily through the grass; I guess we scared them all out of the water.

Natalia may have been the happiest wader of all. She could splash all she wanted without worrying about getting pants or shirt wet. She even logged her diaper fairly full of creek water.

It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but these ladies faces are camouflaged with the dry, powdery dirt that covered our trail. They looked like they were ready for war! (And truthfully, if you'd heard some of the whining and crying that went on occasionally, you'd have thought it really was war!)

We hiked up to this beautiful little waterfall--Ross Falls. We went up there my last year of girls camp, and I really wanted to see it again. It is tiny, but you can get right up close to it--how many waterfalls have you been close to in your life? The girls loved hiking back and forth across the little creek that came down from it.

Finish off with a push pop at the Rock Creek Outpost, and you can officially say you've had a perfect picnic!

  1. Why don't I remember that trip from Girl's Camp? I'm sure I was there...Love the baby sling, by the way. So handy!
    Looks like fun!
