Fool-ishness

As I was doing Madeline's hair before school this morning, I heard Natalia yelling down the hall "Mom, the orange juice is squishy!" "Mom, the orange juice won't drink!" I had fooled them! A little knox gelatin in the oj turned it into jello! Ha ha.

Woops. This picture was supposed to come later. These are "peas and carrots" for our "chicken not pie." Look pretty real, don't they!

Very innocent looking orange juice. But watch out! "It won't drink!"

Mmm. Wiggly orange juice (actually, it wasn't very good. I should have used sugar or extra-concentrated orange juice. Or added orange jello).

Eliza was the last to wake and discover her juice. Here she is trying to drink.

Confused. Why is it not coming out?

Touching it. . . hmmm. Something's wrong here. Since she was the last one to eat, she had the rest of us watching her and giggling. She burst into tears after a few moments. April fools joke gone wrong--it was supposed to be funny, not sad!

Chicken pot pie on the left. Chicken not pie on the right.

Mmm. Chicken pot pie.

Mmmm. Chicken not pie! Actually pudding with Starburst/lime tootsie roll carrots and peas. It was cute. Hard to see in the picture, but the peas and carrots looked very convincing!

Anna got to eat pieces of the pudding covered crust. Now she is a crust covered Anna!

  2. I love these ideas and pictures! The pie idea will be showing up at our house, though it might not last until the boys see it. It sounds too yummy.
