Spring Break Craft #1

Madeline, Kelsie (our friend and neighbor), and Camilla all ride the bus together. They saw a boy one day who had several bags of homemade Gak and couldn't stop talking about it! We decided that would have to be our first spring break project.

It is actually pretty simple to make: squirt a whole bottle of elmer's glue into a bowl, squirt a whole (glue bottle) of water into the same bowl, add some food coloring and Borax mixed with water, and ta-da! Slimy gak!

Stirring with a spoon is okay for a while,

but eventually we had to use our hands.

No body complained about that! As soon as the Borax is added, it starts to stick together and blob up. It is pretty cool.

Actually, I don't recommend eating it. Neither does Camilla.

Anna was napping while we made most of it, but we were still in the process when she woke up, so we gave her some playdough in a bowl. She was sufficiently fooled.

It gets very stretchy and rubbery--a little slippery and slimy.

Works as an ice pack, too.

It's the best pizza dough this girl has ever stretched!

  1. Oh my goodness, these girls are too grown up. And you are way too amazing. Who else could be pregnant with their sixth child, and still be tirelessly entertaining her children with awesome homemade crafts. You are really somethin,' Lind.
