Spring Break with Yearsley Cousins

Our neighbor down the road has a salon in her basement. She receives the Family Fun magazine for free and always brings it down to us. We LOVE it! It has fueled many an activity for our spring break. This isn't a complicated activity, but my little brain likes to rely on others to think of things for us to do!

We tied yarn between two chairs and stretched them down the hall.

Then we taped a blown-up balloon to a straw (which was on the yarn) and let go. They shot down the hall while the kids lay underneath watching. None of the balloons quite made it clear down the hall, but they got close. I guess we need bigger balloons. Katlynne is ready and rearin' to go!

Rulon was very excited to have his turn! It was a little tricky for the little ones to keep the balloon pinched tightly enough not let the air escape, but we helped out!

Once the balloons had been blown up a time or two you could also get a shower if you stood behind them as the air shot out. Gross!

Dutton's scenic trail.

Camilla's desert scene.

And Madeline's desert trail.
This was another Family Fun activity which I would never have thought to do! The little black swirly thing is ribbon from a cassette tape (DI still has them even if you don't!). A magnet underneath makes the curly "tumbleweed" scoot along down your path! These were cute and fun.

  1. Wow- you've been a busy blogger! Good for you in taking pics of spring break festivities. I didn't capture anything! I just may have to try some of those things.

  2. This is the best! And the spit shower is a bonus! Love the desert tumble weed--I'm not sure where we'd find a cassette tape around these parts, though.
I'll have to give the zooming balloon a try!
