Our Friend the Doctor. . .

I know this probably sounds familiar to most of you with young children, but honestly, I feel like we have been at the doctor's office constantly the past six weeks. I think I've spent more time with the staff at the doctor's office than I have with my husband!

Eliza started us off. After a good month or two of NOT going to the doctor with anyone and having all the doctor bills paid off, she got an ear infection. We went through a round of antibiotics (happened to be amoxicillan), found out she was allergic to it, and had a nice red rash all over her for a couple of weeks. She finished those antibiotics on a Sunday, and had a fever and earache again on a Tuesday, so off we went again to visit doc. After the second dose of antibiotics, it still wasn't cleared up. She just finished dose number three yesterday--I'm hoping that took care of it. When I ask, she says it still hurts, but I am going to ignore that unless a fever returns, I think.

Two or three days after Eliza's first ear infection, Natalia started running a fever and decided she would have an ear infection as well. Luckily hers was taken care of with just one dose of antibiotic--and no rash to go along with it.

Last week Madeline had a fever and was home from school for three days. The first evening and next day I kept hoping it would just go away. The second day I decided it probably wouldn't go away, so I made an appointment, but couldn't get in until the following day. She had bronchitis, but was able to be on antibiotics all weekend, so she made it back to school today (nasty cough and all).

Camilla has an immune system made of steel. Honestly, this girl is amazing. Stuff always passes around the other three, but she is always healthy! She did have a chance to visit the doctor after Eliza and Natalia's ear infections, but before Madeline. She got 6, yes six, (so she won't get "freckles" in kindergarten). She was one brave kid! The nurse was totally impressed.

Anyway, last night, Miss Steel Immune System herself came in to my room and told me she needed a drink. I picked her up and immediately noticed her hands and legs were hotter than they should be. I whipped out the thermometer (didn't even have to turn on the light to find it in the drawer--I've pulled it out a zillion times this last month!) and sure enough, fever.

In the morning the fever was gone, but it's back now. Do we really have to go to the doctor again? We were just there two days ago!

Come on, spring! Bring some of that healthy sunshine here!
