I don't happen to be one of those mothers who gives a big party for every birthday. I'm sure my kids would love it if I did, but they are stuck with me regardless! However, I do break down and give a party a couple of times in their lives. First, usually at age 5 when they have preschool friends to invite, and again at age 8 when it's a really big, exciting year in their lives as they get to be baptized! I have not as yet set a precedent for other birthday parties. I'm okay with friends coming over for birthdays, but as far as having a whole herd of children and planning games and such, it's just not my thing!
However, this was one of those big eight-year-old parties, so we had the herd over and played! Here's what I came up with:
Strap a cup of popcorn to your foot, hobble across the yard,
Dump it in an ice cream bucket. (Thank you Family Fun!)
The game was fun, but throwing the popcorn in the air afterwards was even more fun!
"See who can make the most candy corn fangs" game was a creation of my own. It was actually a little harder than I thought it would be to make them stick, but it was fun! This sweet Halle is moving to Florida in a few months. We will miss her and her family! (Maybe we can go visit?!)
Wrap up a buddy and make a mummy was a hit!
Eliza and Madeline are courteously covering their mouths so they don't blow out the candles for Camilla!
Here's a photo of the whole crew. I am happy Camilla has so many great friends! Many of these girls became her friends in kindergarten (some even before that). It will be fun to see if they all stay good buddies as they continue to grow.
Good job on the party and the games!
ReplyDeleteYou did a bang up job throwing a party for all those girls, Lindy! And you had six of your own kids to keep under control--talk about a serious undertaking! I'm so impressed, and the ghost cake is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, is Camilla wearing my "Old Yeller" costume from way back when? I didn't know that thing was still around!!
